Sources of Exposure :
Description :
C9-15 fluoroalcohol phosphate is used to give a smooth, slippery feel and enhance wearbility in cosmetics and personal care products.
Sources of Exposure: Cosmetics and personal care products.
Health Impacts: Per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) is a class including thousands of chemicals, some added to consumer products for their waterproof, greaseproof, stain-proof and non-stick properties. They are used in cosmetic products, especially those labeled waterproof, sweatproof, or long-lasting. Unintentional exposure to PFAS can occur through impurities or as contaminants introduced during manufacturing. C9-15 fluoroalcohol phosphate can degrade into long-chained PFCA (PFOA, PFNA, PFDA). These PFAS are well-researched and associated with cancer, endocrine disruption, and metabolic, reproductive, and developmental disorders, among other health effects.
