Description:

Bergamot oil is a complex essential oil extracted from the peel of the bergamot orange and composed mainly of terpene compounds. It is used as a fragrance ingredient in personal care and cleaning products and as a flavoring agent in food. Like many botanical ingredients, it contains naturally occurring constituents that can cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Bergamot oil can be phototoxic due to compounds like bergapten, which may cause skin irritation or burns if applied topically and exposed to sunlight.
