Dimethyl oxazolidine is a formaldehyde-releasing preservative. It is used as a biocide to control microbial growth in personal care products, paints, coatings, adhesives, and industrial fluids. Also referred to as formaldehyde donors, these chemicals act as a preservative by releasing low levels of formaldehyde over time. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen and endocrine disruptor.
