Description:

GenX chemicals are short-chain PFAS introduced as replacements for PFOA in the production of non-stick and chemically resistant materials. They may be released through industrial emissions, wastewater, and waste disposal and have been detected in air, rain, groundwater, and drinking water. GenX chemicals are highly mobile and extremely persistent in the environment. Because GenX chemicals are persistent, mobile, and associated with adverse health effects, this glossary applies a precautionary approach.
